One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track. Buonfiglio was looking particularly good and could easily take the lead. Funkmaster Flex was to tense at the start and galloped for 50 m. The field stabalized after the bend and the speed was reduced. A bird flew just in front of Buonfiglio who started to galop and lost 20 m. The Big Apple started to galop after 500 m and was nearly disqualified. Fermín looked tired after 1000m but had to keep up the tempo so that The Big Apple couldn't come out from behind the leader, Buonfiglio.
