The weather had been good all week and Solvalla was in good shape.
One after another the horses came out on the track for the obigatory parade. After some warmup the horses lined up behind the car as it began to move down the track.
Golden Wings took the lead after a very quick start. When the startcar left the field Golden Wings started to galop and lost 30 m. Storm Night galloped way to long and was disqualified.
Golden Wings was in fine shape and held the lead.
No one seem keen on putting pressure on the leader so he could keep his own tempo.
